Bryan Asbury IRMO - John Bryan Asbury, 60, of Irmo, SC, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Bryan was born in St. Louis, MO, April 1, 1956, to the late Charles and Doris Julia Arbeiter Asbury. He received his undergraduate degree in business from Miami of Ohio in 1978 where he met his wife, Terry, and was a member of the hockey team. After marrying, Bryan and Terry lived in Dayton, OH, where he completed his MBA at the University of Dayton. His career took his family to Greenville, SC, in 1987 and then to Columbia, SC, in 1997. In Columbia he was the Director of Product Managers with Flextronics International. While very successful in his professional career, Bryan was best known as the life of the party. A good time was never far from him. Bryan was a passionate Pittsburgh sports fan and an avid lifelong golfer. He was a member of Mid Carolina Country Club. To those who loved him, he was a loving family man, a non-judgmental and loyal friend, and a man full of compassion who would do anything for others. His family will remember him dancing with Terry, watching a Steelers game, telling a joke at the 19th hole, or checking in on his kids and grandkids. In his kids' younger years he was also very involved in coaching their athletics. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Terry Lawson Asbury; children, Sarah Asbury Causey (Charley) of Boulder, CO, Nicki Asbury of Columbia, Bryan Charles Asbury of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Tullie June and Luke Causey; and sister, Mary Beth Shaffer of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to his parents, his brother, Dale Asbury, predeceased him. A Celebration of his Life will be held in the banquet hall of Mid Carolina Country Club in Prosperity, SC, on Saturday, January 7th at 3:30 p.m. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Bryan Asbury Memorial Fund in care of the Hackers Association of the Mid Carolina Country Club at 3593 State Rd S-36-164, Prosperity, SC 29127.

January 07, 2017I am heartbroken at this news and share my deepest sympathies and condolences with the Asbury family. Bryan was such a wonderful person and a great friend. He was an absolutely outstanding hockey player, a great teammate, and always had your back in heated ice hockey games. He was just a born leader and so much fun to be with , whether we went to Penguin games together or other school events. I was so thrilled to be able to re-engage with him, after we all went our separate ways after college, when he attended our recent high school reunion a few years ago. To his family, rest assured there are many broken hearts here in Pittsburgh, Mt. Lebanon and across the country where our alumni reside.  Rest well my dear friend, you played the game of life well, and keep those skates sharpened until we meet again....Jamie Cummings
