Remembering Jack on his birthday week. When I think of Jack, I think of the Beatles, Jack's beautiful and heart-wrenching songs, his great sense of humor, his impressive black & white art, his deep caring personality, and of course, the Beatles. "You say goodbye, and I say hello."
tribute by Shelly MazerJack and I went way back. Our moms were best friends, which I suppose happened when we were three or four. Truth is, I can't remember before Jack. His mom was one of the sweetest people ever and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Truth is, to say Jack was one in a million would be a tremendous understatement. It is impossible to imagine 7,000 Jack Rodneys running around in the world. He drove me crazy when it came to his music and many of his choices, especially his career choices, with the exception of teaching, which was a great fit for him. I suppose many in high school saw him as an odd ball, which I guess was pretty accurate. But that was one of the big misfortunes of high school, because odd balls were, largely, not tolerated. Because as I got older, I came to notice that some of my favorite people had some odd ball in them. I think they were more driven by their heart and their emotions than by fitting in or simply doing what made the most sense by other people's standards. And Jack always had people who were very close to him who knew him as a person with an enourmous heart, who felt great love for his friends, family, the kids he taught, his dreams, his art, music and for life in general. He will be missed.
tribute by Gary SchwagerSo sorry to hear about Jack. He and I were good friends during high school, and like many others, lost touch. We also carpooled together for many years back and forth to Jewish Hebrew School. His parents were so nice as well. Fond memories of a ncie guy. May he rest in peace.
