James E. Treher Jr., age 67, received his angel wings on Monday, January 22, 2024. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Mary Barbara (Gast) Treher. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Gallagher) Treher; his sister, Adrienne Treher Taucher (Frank, Jr.); a nephew, Frank Andrew Taucher; a niece, Victoria Elise Taucher Miley (Will); and three step-sons, Stephen Joseph Smith, Brian Anthony Smith and Scott Peter Smith.

Jim was a 1979 proud graduate of Penn State and avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed 30 years of service with the FBI, after inheriting his father’s badge in 1980, in continuance of the family legacy. Jim began his FBI career as a support employee in the Pittsburgh FBI Office in July 1978. He became a Special Agent in May 1980 and was assigned to the New York Office upon graduating from Quantico. He returned to the Pittsburgh FBI Office in January 1996 and he retired in June 2008.

Jim was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Pittsburgh, PA having graduated from Mt. Lebanon Highschool in 1974. A long-time vacation home owner at the Jersey shore, Jim spent his summers there enjoying the beach with friends and family while spending many an evening watching the sun set on the Atlantic.

Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Family and friends are welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of his blessing service at 1 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society (https://www.humanesociety.org/) The Michael J. Very sad news. Such a good guy. The strong, silent type. Knew him since 2d grade at OLG.
